The Executive Business Leadership course, which is highly informative, practically oriented, offering advanced leadership training in a dynamic environment, is required to impart the much-needed knowledge and skills. Through this course, learners will explore their behaviors and skills to achieve continuing personal and professional development as leaders. Leaders equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills will influence personnel towards teamwork and loyalty to achieve organizational goals.

The purpose of the Project Management course is to equip personnel in the various sectors of the economy with skills and techniques that lead to project success. Project Management, as a course of study, has been developed to enable learners to plan, coordinate and control the complex and diverse activities of modern industrial and commercial projects. It examines the many risks and problems associated with each project; and enables learners to plan, organize, and control activities such that the project is successfully implemented in the presence of all the risks and uncertainties. Therefore, the purpose of this course is to equip learners with knowledge, skills, techniques, and tools that are critical for planning, delivering, and monitoring projects and programmes towards success.

This course offers a foundational overview of design thinking framework including techniques and methods associated with problem solving and innovation. It aims to provide participants with necessary skills to improve organizational performance, solve complex challenges through the process of structured design thinking, establish a framework for building an environment that fosters creativity and develop new ways to collaborate across all functions of the organisation.

Vision 2036 recognizes education and skills development as the basis for human resource development. The type of education curriculum that is envisaged to prevail is that which would be aligned to the needs of the economy and business in particular. The purpose of this qualification is therefore to produce graduates who are able to combine theory and creativity which encourages the graduates to dwell more on employment creation rather than the generic employment consumption. The graduates will be equipped with the necessary competencies to either open their own small businesses or work as intrapreneurs in other business establishments. Upon completion of the course graduates will be equipped to identify a business opportunity and the legal requirements for setting up the business; develop the business’ operating, management, marketing and financial plans; and prepare a comprehensive business plan.

The course gives participants the opportunity to explore the potential risks faced by their respective organisations and prepare adequate response systems to reduce potential adverse risks and promote potential opportunities. This course is aimed at enabling participants to identify, analyse and monitor potential enterprise risks, and respond to various forms and categories of risks that inhibit the attainment of enterprise goals. It will enable participants to apply risk management concepts and strategies to their respective organisations and institutions. The course is thus essential for those who intend to start and grow small businesses or be employed as managers in private or public enterprises.

Based on the foregoing, this course has been developed to equip employees and supervisors in the public and private sector with knowledge and skills in supply chain management. Learners will acquire specific knowledge and skills in the evaluation and selection of suppliers, management of suppliers, management of quality in the supply chain, inventory management, and supplier development. The provision of high-quality services and products and the success of projects are hinged on the effective management of the supply chain. In the light of this understanding, supply management skills and knowledge become an indispensable element in the economy of Botswana.

The Finance for Non-Finance Managers’ course is therefore designed to help learners to understand how the decisions they make in their functional units affect the financial performance of the entire organisation. Its purpose is to equip non-finance managers with knowledge and skills to Analyse and interpret Financial Reports; Evaluate the Financial Performance of organisations; Evaluate an organisation’s Financial Strategy; Manage Financial Risk and Interpret tax information. While by nature, the skills set of non-finance managers may not include financial skills, financial issues are central to the efficient running of their functions and an organisation as a whole. Therefore, an understanding of basic financial concepts and principles is imperative at the management level. This course will therefore enhance the capacity of graduates to make informed financial decisions.
